Week 5 began today so I flushed 4 gallons of water through each pot. I flush now to get rid of any buildups, still feeding till the final flush begins around day 53, ten days before the 63 days I plan to let these bloom.

Plants 1 and 4 are the 2 lankiest.
#1=39 inches tall, slender, spear shaped buds, mostly all white hairs, has a lemony citrus scent.
#4=40 inches tall, slender, spear shaped buds, hairs 25% red/orange, 75% white, has a spicey, citrus scent.

Plants 2 and 5 are a bit stockier.
#2=36 inches tall, thicker, more rounded spear shaped buds, mostly white hairs, has a mild citrus scent.
#5=37 inches tall, thicker, more rounded spear shaped buds, mostly white hairs, has a mild citrus scent.

Plant 6 is the stockiest, 31 inches tall with thick, round buds, mostly all white hairs that has a sweet citrus/pineapple scent.

Nice thread and plants. How long will you cure them MM and how many runs to decide your keepers? I hope smoke reports will be included too :)
peace BL P.S. Isn't there a connection between LUI and Ortega?

I'm jealous of your pruning and training skills, nice colas! Do you "Lollipop" your plants or just let them go all natural after the initial veg training? From the pictures it looks like your train up several "main" branches and remove the fan leaves from above them. Do you ever get yellowing from removing fan leaves?

You've taken excellent car of those girls, not a mark anywhere!

I'm looking forward to see how these finish up, If I'm not mistaken you'll be the first person to document these on a web forum?

Thanks budluver, I'll cure em for a 6-8 weeks, but I'll surely be trying some before that ;)
Not sure how many runs, but there'll be at least 2 before we decide, this and the next run in rockwool.
Ortega is Lui's mother, they say the Ortega pheno in LUI is the desired one.

I top indicas like these at the 3rd or 4th node, then about 10 days later do a mild lollipopping (compared to some guys who strip a bunch).
I do remove fan leaves that cover potential budsites, but just a couple a day as I notice them to avoid any stress to the plants. I've never noticed yellowing caused by removing the fan leaves.

Thanks Trillion, I've not seen many Ortega grows posted online, well none with many photos along the way, but you never know the WWW is a big place.

Bloom Day 35

Today's the end of week 5, day 35. Slimmer, spear shaped buds have fattened up in the past week, more colours and crystals appearing also.
Here's a couple photos of Ortega #6;

The rockwool gals are lookin' good, they've grown a lot in the past week.
These will be larger by far than the plants growing now. Bubba Kush is a similarly structured indica and I yield over 300 grams per plant in the rockwool.
I'm moving them around to give them more space, just wanted to leave them in the same position as last week for comparison. The 3 little Spice seedlings are lookin' good too ;)

MNS Ortega vs. Dutch Passion Ortega

I went to the Medical Marijuana and Hemp Expo here this past weekend and could'nt resist buying a pack of Dutch Passion's Ortega to compare. Only bought 5 seeds and they're feminized (they don't offer non-feminized) only cost me $40 CAD.
I bought them Friday afternoon, soaked Friday night, planted Saturday at noon and last night the first one germinated. 3 more germinated by this morning.
Should be a good comparison, I treat all my plants the same, lotsa TLC and learn to know their nutrient and nutrient's strength requirements.

You should start a new DP -VS- MNS thread. There aren't many documented comparison grows on the net. I plan to do one with gws vs Shark soon.

PS - your Ortegas look nice

Excellent idea! Better than being buried in this thread and easier to access.
Look forward to seeing your GWS vs Shark Shock.

"Masters at work"...... "Feminized"..... lol

Good luck with the test run fellas!

be careful

Hey MM,

please be careful with these Ortega from DP. I grew one, it hermied and pollinated my entire crop. My feeling is that, given the widespread internet bashing of DP, they are a company that does not serve the grower community very well. I will never use them again, and I will never use feminized seeds again. Good luck, though. I hope your experience is better than mine. I really would like to see some of their Ortega plants, after all!

Would be cool watching what these fem Ortega can do !
Just that "only cost me $40 CAD" sounds to much expencive to comparing how much you got from Shanti and by which price.
I believe Shantie's offer of 18+ Ortega for 68 euro should be "18+ Ortega seeds for misery 68 Euro" :D

Thanks for the tip, I've had problems with hermies from DP before, both feminized and regulars, just could'nt resist comparing their Ortega's.
