Hello there fellow gardeners

I have a nice quiz for you ….
Using the chromatic model of the color wheel ( red yellow blue - primary colors which give off the secondary - orange green violet) , what 3 basic strains from MNS would you use (“stranded on an island”…or another planet) to give birth to a whole new world of ganja ?
What would those 1 , 2 and 3 strains would be ?

Hello rolo ishtar,

Shanti said before that if he could chose only 1 strain it would be the Afghan Haze.
These genetics contain the building blocks for many modern strains today and the genetics have the potential to make for a variety of combinations to either side of the parents and everything inbetween.

I have not grown enough MNS varieties to know each line well enough to answer your question but it is an interesting one. (y)

Hello Swifty

It shure looks like Aghan Haze is good breeding stock. Must have loads of variation too. Have you grown it ?

100% I would take Afghan Haze. The only one I ever flowered was short with .5 or less stretch during flower. Thin sativa leaves, herbaceous flavor, and frost that drifts like first snow. I figure she is an anomoly but shows me the type of blend between sativa and Indica can have that line. Imagine the f2 segregation.

I would also get Nl5Hz for the very same reason. It is also a 50/50 sativa indica. I assume it would give a different representation and gene pool for f2 and later work with good segration of phenotypes.

Finally, I would bring Masterkush Skunk. It rounds out the genepool and adds that deep dank flavor profile. It would be a powerhouse with the f1, and give me Masterkush and Skunk#1 to play with in the f2's.

All three make amazing f1. Their f2 will give an amazing diversity and throwbacks of pilar varieties to search through.

Wouldn’t Nl5 and Afghan be to close to each other? If I’m not mistaken , NL is mainly afghan itself . You made me curious . I’ve ran NL5Hz. but not AfgHz. Are they that different ? As I remember Nl5Hz is pretty much in the same ‘circle of friends” with SSH and Jack Herer …
How would AfgHz compare ?

I dunno about this Island really… No electric…. What kinda toilets they got 🫣

It would be great to take 9 -12 types; Afghani, Pakistani, Indian. Maybe even a couple of 3 of each 🤔

Santa Marta Colombian Gold

Mango Rosa

Chocolate/ JuicyFruit Thai

Mexican’s (Rafas seed stock)

Durban Poison

Malawi

These types of things..

Part of me thinks if we can only take 3 plants…. Haze C/ SSMale. The best NL SK EP female.

The A39C @lozac123 is a code on some old seeds that are in the fridge @ MNS. Maybe a precursor to a lot of things.

I think this Island, it ain’t very tropical in location. I think long seasons are problematic. As above you can see how I would opt for some pure or as close to pure Linage as I can get. Keep them pure and outcross them. Look at the table below. I would want plants that are still in mass selection with not much “Fragmented” and “Missing”. I don’t like Chemdog. I like Purple Kush. I would want to not be to ‘deleterious’ but also I just want it all to smell like Superskunk really and make amazing black hash. Then have a couple of Sativas that put off the pissy churchy pine resin pepper and citrus thing.

I read the Ortega has an issue when planted later in the season and flowerd before any pre grow. I’ve not seen this. The NL5 is so I can bulk my seed and fill any gaps and select towards some form of what works well there to make a IBL between the NL lines.

Any of that Haze thing can be taken to F2 or outcrossed to introduce new blood. It’s as close to that old stock only a few will have laid eyes on like Nevil & Co, close to wild but with enough Haze and Afghan or NL and Skunk just to balance out the Mendelian in favour of what I want. I wouldn’t want major amounts of haze in anything here unless it triggers on the 21st of June which the EpSkHze do and that M39 is my kinda flavour.

3 fields, a sinsemilla crop of NL#5 with plants drafted out and selected for superior performance/ novelty. Crossed to the Ortega males and the A39C. NL#5xOrt could maybe be a winner. With a little A&C added for those days when the BLD isn’t a good thing. I could work those as reciprocal diallel and find the Plants with aromas that translate to taste.
