I know the challenges of taking pics with no flash vs flash, but the flash frostiness makes choosing, well challenging…

Yes, the flash does make my plants look very frosty and makes for some impressive photos. It also looks very fake as my plants look nothing that. Ain't photography great! If you set your flash to match the ambient light you get a much more natural picture. The flash will even out the light on the subject and eliminate the shadows giving you a nice even ambient light that eliminates the harshness of the flash and will give you more detail..
