The World of Crypto

Well whos got the crystal balls? Haha i prefer investing in tuna. Cans of tuna lol. Bought google, dont see much else other than gold looking good. Bitcoin and the crypto space looks like it wont pop for awhile imo, i expect more crypto implosions. Luna, ftx killing the whole space. When more continue to happen next year just think of the price of bitcoin. Is my forecast for the crypto space. Too many shitcoins that will likely implode basically go to zero.... the number of coins in the thousands.. bitcoin to a dollar? Odds are prob the same as bitcoin to 100k.

Yeah, crazy stuff happens in that world. It's still the wild west for now
Wild west indeed. Where there is money to be made, there is always criminality. I worked for Merrill Lynch for close to a decade as the resident estate planner for our larger clients working alongside their lawyers and accountants. I also managed the foreign currencies desk. I witnessed Black Monday firsthand and what computer trading by large institutions can do to distort the market. A far cry from Graham & Dodd. I've seen some wild s*t. All I can say is a bird in hand; be diversified and caveat emptor.

There's a ton of clickbait on that ^^^ site, drove me away.

Looks like SEC shenanigans towards the president's agenda. Although the previous president's nominated chair was a similar but different kind or corruption. It sure would be nice if we could do our own banking without corrupt third parties manipulating our funds.

This is the latest theory circulating about the FTX fiasco 🤔

I have more money invested in cans of tuna than I do in crypto!

Can you eat crypto? Can you smoke crypto? Can you barter with crypto? According to this picture, my short term financials are looking pretty good! :p

I certainly understand why y'all aren't into crypto, as I keep saying, I don't advise most people to touch it as an investment. I'm in it for the money, short term as well as long term. Pretty incredible how the value of Bitcoin has gone from less than a dollar to $16 000 in over a decade

Bitcoin has dropped from $78,000 in November 2021 to $16,000 in November 2022. Pretty incredible drop too!

"During the first five months of 2022, the average price of frozen skipjack tuna has increased by 33 percent YOY." Meksea.com. I don't advise most people to touch it as an investment. I'm in it for the money, short term as well as long term. People gotta eat no matter the bartering system - Commies, Republicans, the Pope, - everybody eats. You can bet on that!

For those who can no longer afford tuna? Let them eat Bitcoin! ;)

Zacly what I'm talking about. This market is very fast, what usually takes a stock a month to do can happen within a day in the crypto world. This means fast decisions (or no decisions at all) when it spikes one way or the other. Being contrarian means going against ones instincts, easier said than done. One would either have to have retrained their instincts or have the kind of personality that doesn't get emotionally attached and/or very good at sticking with set buying/trading rules. Most people can't do that which is why most buy at the top and sell at the bottom where everyone is in despair. Which is why I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Best way to train is to fail IMO along with investing no more than one is willing to lose. Very difficult to do nothing when the market is in despair and one has borrowed the money to invest. 😰

There are some really neat blockchain projects going on in that world, looking to solve real world problems. One would be surprised I'm sure if they red the white paper by Satoshi as to why he/she created Bitcoin. Some to simplify the way digital content is distributed, another favorite that helps consumers regulate their use of power optimizing distributed energy, banks are saving time and money with it, some are integral in the gaming industry and others are meant to be untraceable forms of payment (Bitcoin is completely traceable btw). If one has interest in blockchain either way, then they should check out and see what is behind the projects folks are investing in, what they actually do, the fundamentals. Go to the website of the token in question and see what the big deal is, instead of taking the word of Joe Blow. The industry is here and has been growing for 13-14 years. Big people and corporations are investing a lot of money into it for some reason. Who will be on top is a good question, the VCR vs Beta has always struck me. It's here and it's useful and it can also be invested in. I don't find it easy to keep up with the times, but I do want to keep up with this one.

I remember in my younger years making the statement to a friend that I believed Guns and Roses sucked. He wasn't a fan either but he quickly put me in my place by pointing out GnR had millions of fans, and that my opinion made no difference to that fact

*Edit, fun fact, Bitcoin bull runs have only begun after 85% drops from the tops. Still not there. But this could also be the end, anythings possible these days , nothing is for sure

Caroline Ellison, one of the central figures behind FTX's collapse, previously tweeted that regularly using amphetamines made the 'non-medicated' life seem 'dumb' (msn.com)

How Crypto Currency works... an analogy in Layman's terms.
Not long ago a merchant found a lot of monkeys that lived near a certain Village. One day he came to the Village saying he wanted to buy these monkeys! He announced that he would buy the monkeys at $100 each. The villagers thought that this man must be crazy - How can somebody buy stray monkeys at $100 each? Still some people caught some monkeys and gave it to this merchant, and he gave $100 for each monkey. This news spread like wildfire and people caught monkeys and sold them to the merchant.
After a few days, the merchant announced that he will buy monkeys at $200 each. The lazy villagers also ran around to catch the remaining monkeys! They sold the remaining monkeys at $200 each. The merchant then announced that he will buy monkeys for $500 each! The villagers start to lose sleep.. They caught six or seven monkeys, which was all that was left and got $500 each. The villagers were waiting anxiously for the next announcement.
Then the merchant announced that he is going on Holiday for a week, but when he returns, he will buy monkeys at $1000 each! He also said that his employee will be in charge and would take care of the monkeys he bought pending his return. The Merchant went on holiday! The Villagers were frantic and very sad as there were no more monkeys left for them to sell it at $1000 each as was promised by the Merchant.
Then the Merchant's Employee contacted them and told them that he would secretly sell them some monkeys at $700 each. The news spread like wildfire. As the Merchant promised on his return that he would buy monkeys at $1000 each, they would achieve a $300 profit for each monkey. The next day The Villagers queued up near the Monkey Cage. The Employee sold all the monkeys at $700 each. The Rich bought monkeys in large lots. The poor borrowed money from money lenders and bought the rest of the monkeys! The Villagers took care of their monkeys & waited for the Merchant to return!
However nobody came ! ..... Then they ran to Find the Employee .... However he was not to be found! The Villagers then realized that they have been duped buying the useless Stray monkeys at $700 each and were now unable to sell them! This Monkey Business is now known as Bitcoin!

Solid choice. It's also insane that there's speculation on when tuna will be fished to extinction, with investors looking at frozen storage solutions for fish caught now, to be sold on at massive profit when there are no more tuna left in the sea.

Perfidy exemplified. How deep the rabbit hole?

He prophetically said it so many years ago, "It's a BIG club and you ain't in it." /r

Lol, that's quite a twist on your crypto thread, George Carlin's skit and your theory on the connection between FTX and the Ukraine , says alot. You know, you could always start a thread on Ukraine war alternative theories, could be interesting

I am just sharing interesting stories that I come across that are crypto related. With FTX in the spotlight, there are lot of questions that remain unanswered. It's effect is being felt internationally by the entire market. Criminality is afoot as billions seem to have vanished. What it boils down to is that regulation is just around the corner. Jean-Paul Servais of IOSCO, a global securities watchdog said in effect that, "targeting such ‘conglomerate’ platforms will be the focus for 2023."
