Hi everyone. Long update post, sorry.
So I am a few weeks into my next run, which is a change up in many different ways. I have always been a soil head, dove deep into the living soil world when I started growing again a few years ago, and have been tweaking things ever since.
Every run I have done, the plants seemed to be running out of something towards the end. The first two runs I blamed it on not enough amendments, and not a big enough container.
But the last two runs I have followed a build a soil recipe, let the mix cook and towards the end I was definitely running into what looked like a calcium deficiency. I just haven’t found that the soil mix has worked that well for me personally.
During the summer I was lucky enough to try some verified smoke of cuts directly from Nevil’s work from the 90s. Some of the strains included AG13, C5 and A5, and I realised this is what I want more of- those crazy uplifting sativa highs. To quote a friend, I want something that will shove a rocket up my ass, not put me to sleep.
So the set up change is moving from a Migro 250w LED to a 400w HPS. Also trying hydro for a change. I have been growing fantastic smoke, but there has been something missing, and I am hoping this run will show me what it is.
Interestingly, one of the reasons for the change is I wasn’t getting great smells from the LEDs. With living soil, everyone speaks about how strong things smell, but I just wasn’t finding it. The straw that broke the camel’s back was a cutting of basil that I had grown from the supermarket. It smelled great on the windowsill, in the tent the smell changed and became a very strong clove smelling cut of basil. Within a few weeks of it being under a hps, the smell indeed returned to basil so I am in high hopes of getting some smelly buds.
I grow for effect, so that is what this run is all about. It’s the head stash run. I currently have a variety going as I am getting a bit burnt out from toking on the one strain. So this run is:
Heavy Dayze- Rushton (SSHP x RMQ)
Heavy Dayze- Daddymac x Raspberry Goat
Dampkring- Issac Haze (AG13 x (NL5 x C-Haze x C5 male))
