Polyhybrid question

I am in flower now with a polyhybrid 3 way cross. I have noticed that instead of fan leaves opposing each other, (this was started from seed) that the fan leaves and consequently the branching is stepped like stairs, none exactly posing against the next.

Does this indicate that one of the 'parents' was a clone? I have seen clones growing and their fan leaves and branches are always spaced like stairs instead of directly opposed to each other.

If you have seen this please let me know. It is new to me in the last 10 years of growing.

Thanks!

I have seen it happen before it is just a slight mutation . If I remember correctly it turned out to be a male . I just looked at it like it skipped the early stages and went straight to alternating nodes as you described.

What's interesting is that like I said this plant is in flower now for about 3 weeks. I just noticed the staggering nodes. The branches are now about 7 inches long with flowers at the top and down the shaft 3 times. Never seen anything like this.

Maybe someone other than us has seen this. I thought that one of the parents of these seeds could have been a clone but what do I know?

A clone would pass on genetics of the mother plant. The alternate nodes is just a mutation . From seed the parents matter and would not give a different result if a clone was used . Hope that explains it .

I believe that every plant from seed starts normally with opposing branches at the same level.
Once the plant reaches maturity they start to alternate and once you take clones from a mature plant these will always have alternating nodes.

Can you post a pic?
