Sadly our politics leans towards the red states of the USA.
Small pockets resemble California in heart but not law.
Never going to happen IMO.
FFS the opposition leader is an ex Queensland drug squad officer. Worst cops in Oz back in the day for our international members.

The politics of Queensland certainly leans towards the red states and if so many Victorians had not moved there it would probably still be held by the National Party like back in the days of Joh. If decriminalisation happens here it will happen at a state level with federal laws kept in place as a backstop. Just as it has happened in the US. After all we pretty much just do what the US does but about ten years later. Unless of course it's a crazy law that reduces our civil liberties then we get it first.

Sadly our politics leans towards the red states of the USA.

Four solidly red US states have legalized rec weed: Alaska, Missouri, Ohio, and Montana. Ohio has voted red in the last 3 presidential elections. Florida would have been the fifth state, had it passed last Tuesday; but, regrettably it didn't, despite Trump telling his supporters to legalize it:

Florida is solidly red and though a majority of Floridians approved legalization of rec weed, the total number fell below 60%, which was the requirement needed for it to pass. It's only a matter of time, imo.

You’re probably correct freedom fighter. The details of the US I’d know little. More a casual glance at the similarity of the the election maps and the prohibition maps.
I’m sure there’s a lot going on not reflected by the politics.
