MG's Nevilles Haze 2023

Wassup Brothers and Sisters,

so a while ago I won the BOTM contest and I chose nothing less than πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯ Nevilles Haze πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰ πŸ₯³

The plan was to grow them alongside OJD's Sour Thai Neville, but unfortunately those seeds never arrived and I suspect that they were seized by customs 🀬. Anyway, Nevilles Haze is on the way. They were put in papertowel on the 10.01.2023 and waiting to pop open. I will grow them in small pots so that I can germinate all 18 seeds and do a selection. This will be my first attempt to run a full grow report from germination to harvest (hopefully) and I am not sure how the Nevilles Haze will respond to the small pots, given that the flowering time is really long. I did a run with the Doors before and they took it quite well, so next challenge is Nevilles Haze. Lets see how far we can push the boundary.

Wassup Brothers and Sisters,

so far 17/18 seeds germinated. Sorry for the dark pic, on the camera it looked better. This is from the 14.01.2023.

What I usually do is to transplant them into small rockool cubes and usually also before the cotyledons are visible, but it seems these Nevilles Haze are just full of vigor. I prefer to use an inert medium as it does not contain soil borne pathogens. In my first grow of Ortega I lost nearly half of the seedlings to phytium. So to get those seedlings in the rockwool I first take a marker and enlarge the hole in the rockwool so the seedling can fit inside.
NH2.jpg

Then I soak the rockwool cubes with plain water and use tweezers to place the seedlings inside the hole. Beware of breaking the radicles, this can easily happen if you dont pay attention.
NH3.jpg

Last step is to add sand that will fill up the holes. To ensure that the sand fills it out completely you might have to give a little amount of water to carry the sand deeper. Below you can see the result. Usually the seedlings are completely covered, but in this case they just grew faster than usually so some already got their heads out.

alright thats my germination method. I try to disturb the seedlings as little as possible as in the past I made the experience that they break very easily when fiddling around too much. Updates will follow so stay tuned.

The phytium, was that due to your water source or?

mu
I dont think so. I think it was already in the jiffy plugs, cause with rockwool it doesnt happen. Maybe I also overwatered them. Rockwool dries out more quickly and nearly impossible to get it waterlogged but on jiffies or soil I always had problems with phytium. Also with seeds of other breeders.

Always nice to see a report of THE best MNS strain (my opinion/subjectiv), its excellence is only matched by its difficulty to grow perfectly.
I don't doubt you well informed, what follows could help some uninformed.

The NH is a deceptive plant so do not make any conclusions until you complete flowering cycle.Things slowing your growth rate could be to do with over fertilizing, as this girl does not need alot of food. My advise is take a clone and before it is rooted put it directly on 12 or 11 hours flowering cycle.

NH is not easy to really get it right straight up, but when you do, this is what to expect.

This is what a good NH looks like. Well done L33t. I used to pick off calyxes with tweezers for my joints. Those were the days my friends.

What type of sand are you using? Normally when we use the larger rockwool with the plug holes we also use the rockwool plugs.

Just curious on the sand.

Ok I see you made those holes.....
You soak your rock in tap water... no ph down?

Still curious..

Thanks

Thanks bro, much appreciated. I grew a NH hybrid long time ago so I have a little bit of experience with this strain. It was Congo Haze from kiwi seeds. Among the 5 plants there were 2 pure sativa phenos, almost grinspoon like. If I find pictures I will share. But the difference for this grow will be the small pots. And I m talking about really, really small pots, 0.5L type of pots. It worked for the doors and now I wanna know if NH works too

No problem bro. I use the small rockwool cubes of 4x4cm. For the sand it says sahara sand on the packaging. Its the type of cheap sand people buy to build a sandbox for their children. I cannot tell you anything about the particle size. I use the sand so I dont have to squeeze the rockwool cubes to close the hole, otherwise seedlings might break. And the premade holes need to be enlarged otherwise you have to squeeze the seedlings in and they might break. Another option would be to start them directly in the cubes but somehow I like the paper towel method because you can check the germination status.
The water is not pH regulated, only left to rest for a while and bubbled up with air to get rid of the chloride. But it works also with water straight from the tap, I ve done it before.

Wassup brothers and sisters,

day 14 after germination. As the Nevilles Haze develop they are already starting to turn pale a bit so I gave them some food, a nutrient solution of EC = 1.1 dS m-1.
NH1.jpg

yesterday I remembered that there was an ungerminated seed I had left in the closet to see if it would still come. Well I totally forgot about it and when I checked I found that it germinated quite well but unfortunately the paper towel dried out and the seedling died. Like always, I cannot keep myself from thinking "damn, this was probably my keeper" 😭. Anyway, germination rate of the Nevilles Haze is 100% which is remarkable. My first time to hit 100% so thanks MNS for the quality you provide.

Wassup Brothers and Sisters

yesterday, on day 25 after germination, I transplanted the NHs into 9x9cm pots where they will stay until showing sex. I don’t know exactly the size of these pots but I would say its around 0.5 – 0.7L. As you can see, the seedlings are starving for food. They would have probably grown taller by now had I transplanted them earlier. But I was not in a hurry and there was no place to put them since the plants of my previous run were still hanging in the second growtent. The medium I will continue in is peat substrate and the photoperiod is still 18/6.
NH+rest.jpg

The plants left and right are the ones chosen to test my worm farm soil. Will update that thread also soon.
Upper left is Passion Fruit (DP)
Lower left is Sour Blueberry (HSO)
Upper right is Slightly Stupid Collieman Kush (HSC)
Lower right is Early Queen #4 (MNS)

I will grow these along with the NH and hope that they will finish before the NH become too big. Thats it for now. Stay tuned...
