The Flea
2023 Circle of Excellence
MNS family.
Many of us will have visited the wonderful city that is Amsterdam.
I am no exception and would regularly travel there multiple times per year during the mid/late nineties and early 2000's.
The fact that it was so close to where I then lived and everything that a visit there entailed made it my favourite place for a short break / bender. We could be in the pub (Eagle and Child), finish our spliffs and Red Stripe, grab a lift to the airport and be over in Schiphol within 2 hours.
The feeling on arrival was always true bliss. There was always quality herb to be found and lots of cool places to hang-out.
My last visit during this period was in May 2009.
I returned to Amsterdam in 2019 and found a different city. It looked pretty much the same, but everything was different.
(I am focusing on the area most visitors would find themselves in)
Therefore, I wanted to put together a thread that remembers the 'Amsterdam of Old' - starting with a couple of mine.
- Kalimist from the Bluebird - in my top 3 smokes of all time
- Eagle Bill and his vaporiser - my first taste of Dutch herb (it definitely worked!)
- Silver Haze from the Greenhouse Effect - lead to me knocking myself out after smacking my head on the glass roof of a tour boat
- Hotel the Crown (with the wonderful Mark)
- Central Station not being covered in scaffolding / building work
- Warm Ears Maroc hash from Stones Cafe
- New Year's Eve 2001 - what a party
I've got loads of others but want to keep the OP to a reasonable length.
Some related watching -
(from 1995)
(appearance from Howard himself)
Keep it green,
TF.
