Hey Longball yes been to Waitomo Caves a long time ago very cool place. Very expensive place it has that Kiwi tourism price tag! Definitely worth going once though. We have glow worms in most places in the bush here just not like those caves though. We also have cave wetas you can’t see in the dark!

As a betting man, i bet $50 that when the cameras cut Bear Grylls eats his own poo... and thoroughly enjoys it.

The worse of the Weta's is the Bed Weta you've got to watch out for, matress protectors help and thankfully this phase usually passes by age 8

Love your beauty garden @longball , love your stories and truck

Fish

Thanks, Fish! You're the bestest! ;)

Bear Grylls eats weta and wishes he hadn't! ""It tasted literally like you'd imagine poo would taste."

Are they really that bad, Fish? :p

Longball
Funny old show Bear did here, if you knew where he was geographically while he was “lost” he went through or across roads, several towns and even islands haha. I honestly don’t know if anybody has ever been hungry enough to eat a Weta! Huhu grubs (another wild delicacy here) are suppose to taste like peanut butter but don’t believe that either haha

Fall Fest, AI Fails, and a Glut of Weed

Having pictures of a party is great for bringing back awesome, fun, memories. The person running the party and the bands is not the right person for this. Maybe a photographer or someone less involved. I have a digital camera that can be set for ‘Manual,’ not quite DSLR manual but you can set the Big Three of Photography – Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO. If I was reading the manual right then there was a setting that did auto-focus and I could change the Big Three if needed. As I would be shooting in daylight, night, and stage lights, I would need some flexibility but autofocus would be very helpful as there was as good chance that I’d get too fucked up to see let alone focus a camera.

When the camera first came out it was called ‘computer-assisted’ as it makes decisions automatically for you. But the truth is, like search engines, it is really AI. For some reason, many companies will use almost any word but AI. Scary, that AI. I noticed the next day that of 150 pictures that I had taken, 140 were out of focus. I gotta call big AI fail here. Of course, the 10 picture in focus were WTF did I take this picture?

Bronson getting ready to introduce ‘Glass Pony’ but first he is announcing that we are holding a raffle. In the last update he is holding a roll of raffle tickets. He had some and thought that we should hold a raffle to raise some money for the bands and to offset party expenses. Great idea, Bronson. I had a better idea. Let’s fix the raffle so that one of us wins it and we save money on the prizes plus get all the raffle money. I wasn’t a Pirate for nothing! I was voted down. The raffle would be fair and square. Dang it! There were 3 prizes and 1st winner got 1st pick of any prize, etc. The prizes were, 1) a framed picture of one of the bands logos, someone had done with needlepoint stitching on velvet and had the band sign it. Very nice. 2) a merch package which included your choice of a t-shirt from each band and a CD from each band. 3) The final prize was a Glass Bong that a local smoke shop donated and I donated an ounce of OG Kush I grew last year to test the bong out.

Glass Pony - "psychedelic groove circus". It is looking a bit like a real stage in the yard. I work most Glass Pony shows and as the drummer lives very close to me, she picks me up and drives me home from each show. For that, I am her personal roadie, security, whatever she needs, I’m there. Such a great job!opt_002 GP RH 5 P1080663.jpeg

Brian Mangini sitting in with Glass Pony. He is in the next band and many other bands. I work many shows with Brian as he lives very close by. Same deal, personal roadie, keyboard players have a lot of heavy equipment so generally an assistant is very helpful. Been working with Brian since 1992. Brian also gets flown around the country to play in tribute ‘Elvis’ and ‘Doors’ bands when a good fill-in in needed. Sadly, they don’t fly me. Brian Mangini

Our friend in the grey sweatshirt grew this. It was ‘Orange something’? Like most people, I only took 2 hits. Shortly after that, I was so high I thought the ground was shaking, like an earthquake. He has been growing outrageous stuff since high school – late 60’s, early 70’s for us! Lol I went to listen to the music and asked a friend; “Is the ground shaking?”. He said, yes, the band is loud and their sub-woofer is shaking your yard! The next day I was told they could hear the music in town, 2 miles away! Sometimes it is hard to tell exactly what is happening when doing mushrooms so it is good to have someone you trust around to explain things lol

Ground shaking? Pot? Mushrooms? AI? Getting following thru's in my vision!

In the meantime, the plants don’t give a hoot about any of this, they got their own party going on. The plants are pretty much done growing and now just waiting for the buds to fatten up. I did a decent job keeping them small but I like bigger better. We’ll see if I can get them a little bigger next year.

Baby Fugly – These G13xAfghan Skunk F2’s have been great. Trying to bend the plant and keep it small, well, it got kinda mutilated, hopefully I will be a bit better next year at shaping plants.

opt_006 Baby Fugly 2023 P1080871.jpeg

Star Dawg #1 X G13xAfSk - looks like one of the plants I tried to manifold but I started too late and had never done it so I gave up. Not sure what this shape is – a row of buds up top and a row of buds halfway down – what is this? I think I will get more yield than if I did nothing?

I have a Medical License so I am allowed to possess 5 pounds but with a harvest coming in, I am near the limit, I can’t give it away, and of course I won’t break the law, sooo, I’ll burn a few bags in the twin fireplaces tonight when we start the fires. I really loved the way it got smoked up and left you in very very upper high ! :)

I have not smoked any but it smells very much like paint thinner/turpentine. One of my favorite weed smells. I like gasoline/racing fuel the most. Maybe it reminds of driving my race car? I once had some 'gasoline' weed. It didn't smell or taste like gasoline. Only after you smoked it. I turned on a friend and his wife. After we went back into the venue to watch the band I noticed she had a funny look on her face and kept swallowing. I asked what's up? She said the back of her throat felt oily like she had just siphoned gasoline from her car's gas tank. I was so happy because then I knew I had the real deal! 😍 She never smoked it again!

I hope my ASH smokes like your description! :)

I forgot to mention the ASH is very sticky. Not sticky like Super Glue though your fingers will stick together. It is more of a greasy, oily, sticky. Your fingers feel greasy afterwards. Can't wait to smoke some!

A little lower right of center is my beer I set down to take the picture. The beer can is under a camera tripod. There is another camera on the other side of the stage. At least 2 camera's record every show and sometimes the shows are live streamed - around the world if you have the link. Left of center of pic is Taper Jon's setup. You can see part of his microphone pole shining. He records all shows. His setup goes something like this:

The Audio is put up on Archive.Org as a FLAC24/48 file. What is FLAC24/48? FLAC-HD is a high resolution audio format for audiophiles to enjoy more than three times the fidelity of a standard audio CD. Typically live shows in FLAC-HD are recorded at 24 bit / 48 KHz for maximum fidelity. FLAC is ideal for preserving high-resolution audio files, such as studio recordings, vinyl rips, or digital downloads. Its lossless compression ensures no audio data is lost, maintaining the highest possible quality. The video is recorded in 4K HD but not released to the public.

A bit before this song the raffle winners were announced. The first pick chose....the ounce of OG Kush and the Bong. They didn't want the bong. I told them they had to take it anyway. Throw it a away, give it away, just you and that bong get the fuck off the stage. They took it. Both bands played a couple songs together. Here we are with 4 guitar players(Guitar Army) and 2 bass players on stage. Playing something labeled 'Trance Mix' on the recording. At one point one of the bass players put down the bass and picked up a 6 string guitar(he is a jazz guitarist when not playing bass in Glass Pony) and after a bit, him and the other bass player swapped guitar and bass. Was everyone doing mushrooms? Have not listened to this song yet lol

I finally have some time to catch up on this thread. I have noticed in the 4 years I have been on this forum there are not a lot of successful outdoor growers. :( 'Off the top of my head' only @quinxstar seems to bring home the bacon each harvest. He is a bad-ass grower(means grower who has earned respect!). I needed to keep the plants smaller this year so I started them 59 days(8+ weeks) later than usual. These pics are from September 21st. The plants are 118 days since soaking. If I had started at the normal time I'd be at 177 days. 25+ weeks. Takes a long time to grow indica hybrids out here. Forget about sativas. This is about 56 days of flowering(8 weeks) and not close yet. It is kinda hard to tell what day one of flowering is. There is no magical flip to 12/12. It comes on slowly, a little different for each plant. I think it would be quicker for me to grow a 14 week flowering sativa indoors!

A group pic of the plants in containers with handles - I need Bronson to carry the ones without handles. Next year - all handles. Wasn't planning on having 12 plants. 4 is preferred. There was no shaft of light when I took the picture. There is something happened to the lens and when I face the sun I get glare in the picture. I try to take pics with back to the sun which is how you should take pics anyway.

opt_001 P1090015a.jpeg

Pretty much the same picture, just a little closer to it. Makes it look like one giant plant. Hopefully, I will grow a plant like this next year. If not, I'm sure that we can count on @slabsofdank to post up some Texas sized plants! 😍

opt_GRP 2023 P1090016.jpeg

(Lemon Haze Autoflower) x (G13xAfSk) #1 F2 Fully seeded. Hoping for some hazy Autoflowers next year to add to my Franken-strains. Not to be confused with @Mr. Brown's FrankenStain Collection. Hopefully someday they will meet! 🥰

LHA1 GAS 2023 2 P1090007.JPG

(Star Dawg) x (G13xAfSk) #1 It smells exactly like Citronella. I am told I am exactly wrong. How do I know that they are not exactly wrong? Does this look like 56 days of flowering? Some did start later.

Wizzy Whizz (Jack Herer) x (LaNina) This is the same picture of Wizzy Whizz I posted up earlier. For comparison. Wizzy Whizz has completely transformed herself. She does not look at all like any of the other plants! The main stalk is now red. Branches - red. Petioles - red. She all sexy. Never had a plant do this before. I have seen @Swifty and @musashi have plants do this and they don't complain about it. As they both grow awesome plants I think this will be an awesome plant too! Makes sense, right! I mean as long as Mr. Brown keeps his cotton-pickin fingers off of her! Hi Mr. Brown! :)

Real Time Update
opt_P1110267.jpeg

Hi @Apollo!

No, our 42.62 degrees latitude is very different from Northern Spain's. Their weather is affected by the ocean's Gulf Stream which brings up warm air from the Equator. Due to some fluke in geography we are usually north of the Jet Stream. This means our weather is affected by the Arctic Circle. We get weather with names like 'Arctic Blasts' or 'Polar Vortex's'. Shanti says a lot of Hazes will finish in early December in Northern Hemisphere. Not here. We are colder than a lot of places North of here! For example deach69 is at 50 degrees north but his growing season is 6 weeks or more longer!
