i know that small fans aint that bad
but once you get to 6 inch an ova its loud

The best way to keep them quiet is to fit a silencer on the end of your fan, you should really hear the difference with a silencer, not really sure how much they come in at but they are worth every penny as they do keep the noise way way down. A silencer is the way to go.

Hi t.t.h, the guy in my hydro store told me how you can make your own, I really dont know affective it would be but the idea sounds ok, say you had a 6" fan and you wanted to make a 6"silencer, you get a bit of 6" ducting and a bit of 8" ducting,put the 6" into the 8" and the space inbetween (2") gets filled with rockwool, he says that's basically how the silencers are made, I have never made 1 and I really dont know how affective this would be, but the idea sounds ok, maybe your better than building stuff than me t.t.h, lol.

1. Sheet ( Half Sheet )
2. Cut Six Equal Squares
3. Cut Two Holes In Two Of The Squares
4. Put Together With Fan Inside
5. Fill With Fibreglass Or Spray Fill With Acoustic Foam
6. Place Last Sheet To Complete Your DIY Silent Extractor That Has No Further Need For Anything But Sonoduct Ducting And A Filter;)
