@slabsofdank What do you spray with?
Thx

On the plants I use spinosad and neem and for a perimeter spray I use bifenthrin on the surrounding vegetation and on the ground. The grasshoppers are almost epic this year for some reason. The hot dry weather has them in overdrive. Any suggestions?

Here is an Early Queen stalk almost girdled by them. They seem to find a place they like and attract others.

Over here when we have bad droughts we get major cricket infestations on farms and they eat what grass is left. In some areas farmers use cricket bait that they spin on their paddocks with fert spreaders. It’s essentially poisoned wheat. Wheat treated with malathion. A very nasty chemical, highly toxic to insects, fish and crustaceans (probable carcinogen to) but decimates crickets here. Not organic obviously and it’s banned in a lot of countries. Last resort maybe?
Edit; If you do try it I don’t mean to spin it all over the place but a little dish with it maybe at the base of a plant or two might just do the trick

Those grasshoppers are wicked fuckers for sure. Luckily haven't seen any this year where I'm at. Thought I may of had a mite problem back at the beginning of July. I too sprayed with neem during veg followed by 3 applications of spinosad about 5 days apart from each pre flower. Plants seem clean , few marks here and there on fan leaves. Applied one application of DrZymes eliminator ,not really any problems knock on wood.

Really like your perimeter spray tactics. I will try that next year.

Wish you the best executing every last one of those evil fuckers.

Good luck
Peace

Good ideas everyone. I wish I could have chickens around but the coyotes, owls, hawks, and feral dogs would make quick work of them. I made sure to spray the stalks and limbs this time. Maybe I was pushing them away from the leaves to untreated parts. I always tried to concentrate my spinosad and neem spray under the leaves for mites, aphids, and whiteflies. I'll be more vigilant spraying the stems from now on.

I put down 4 gallons of perimeter spray and 2 gallons of neem mix up in the stalks and stems while the sun was down. Yesterday at 107f was supposed to be the last real hot day for a while. Then down to the middle 90's for a few. It was supposed to rain but didn't, go figure. ha ha

I hope to see less of the bastards next time I visit the special garden.

a different solution natural why not put some chicken for eat them
And fresh fertilizer. I like to hang maggot infested roadkill for my birds. I think the protein from the maggot meat makes them aggressive and well just bigger. I've got a cock that is just huge and intimidating. I call it Zeus. Just a big boned cock. Funny how the chick's fuck with it and end up getting punished but come back every time for more. Just won't leave my cock alone.

I love a juicy chicken

malathion is available on Amazon. Look for high percentages 55-57%. Last resort for sure.

Hope somethings here works, Slabs!

I would definitely second a natural approach. Would not want to consume a product sprayed with chemicals like that and i am pretty consequent on the diet with this apporach 2.
That said i would buy a bunch of fiber netted mesh, wider than mosquitos nets but tighter than bird netting. You should be ahled to find that stuff on the bay the zone or at alixprss...just have then covered would be my kinda try. Crazy hiw the eat all those barky parts either...biblical scenes...
