I'll report the Devil in my straw was pure skunky. Even the males smelled like a purebred polecat. Now, after harvest and slow dry, on the females THE SKUNK is overwhelmingly powerful. Devil has it.
I believe that Upton Sinclair wrote the Jungle which was required reading in high school for me over 50:years ago. It was about life on the far west side of Chicago and for stockyard workers and all there. It was a brutal life. The stockyards was where most of the livestock in the USA were slaughtered in those days Which if I remember correctly was in the 1920’s or 30’s. It no longer exists but was a major industry back then. The stockyard took up a huge area maybe a square mile or more. I only saw the remnants when I was about 20 years old. They had converted a building into a concert venue. Nothing fancy though, bare bones. Great book and excellent quote.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!” – Upton Sinclair
