F21 x M2 - A Relation to Medicine Man

What relation I am unsure, but Shanti kindly sent me these to sample, along with another combo F16 x M2. These have been a pleasure to watch grow, and I can attest to the vigor they have shown. They just wanted to keep growing. The stretch was unimaginable, as is the node spacing. But for old seeds they germed, and grew with intense fervour.

So I will do another thread for the F16s, but they are far more sativa genetically, and could take up to 4 weeks longer than their half sisters.

I started with 10 seeds, 5 females, all flowered off. (ive just looked and it seems that I missed one of the mistresses. - labelled B. Cant understand how that happened. but i will endeavour to get shots of this one also)
Labelled A, C, E and F.

So, what do you you think guys? Im really loving the look of these and cant wait. I can really see a resemblance to Rhino/Med Man with these F21x M2s, expressing Indica dominance, and looking delicious. E looks like the keeper all round, but F looks juiciest, with lower that avg yields. The final word will be once they are chopped, and all look to be coming down within the 56 - 63 day mark (23rd - 30th Dec 2014).

I look forward to the feedback and comments.

Please bear in mind, this run wasn't about production, it was about finding a new keeper to replace the Rhino that i once had. I let the food get higher than needed in week 6, coz i added Palm Sugar (moment of madness/genius?? time will tell!!!) and a lil extra grow to compensate for yellowing fan leaf. I wanted to get an idea for selection purposes only.

Hi CaliRude

Well i was under the impression at first that these were the black widow father bred to two different sisters of Med Mans mother. But that illusion was quickly dispelled by Shanti in a PM

My guess is, and its a guess at best is that these were part of the process with which Shanti arrived at Rhino, or a parallel line that wasnt kept. One thing im almost certain of is that f16 was a far more sativa motherplant than f21, as the respective offspring were all pretty consistent. Ive asked Shanti a few times, but i aint pressing the matter till everything is finished and i can report some feedback on smells tastes and effects, as well as grow info such as yield and structure, stretch etc. id say M2 is definitely hybrid, thats my bet, with Afghani genes my best guess. The mothers are the more interesting mystery to me.

Beautiful.

Beautiful looking plants. Please tell us your going to do a nice thorough smoke report. It's always a bummer seeing nice ladies but no smoke report to wrap it up. Keep growing!

Those look fantastic brother great job! I would assume it's an inbreed of some sort I know he was working on a mango haze ibl for a bit. Now I think he's focused on his family and cbd :)

Thx weezy.

Family is paramount, and tbh makes everything else have more meaning, flavour and reward. I really hope we all take a page out of his book and spend more time with family and less time in cyber/virtual world.

From now on, its a once a day check of the forum for me. Im not a massive contributor, but had to share this with the MNS community, as a thank you to Shanti. The man is such a gentleman, with a huge heart. Recently he assisted me in putting a terminally ill cancer patient in contact with those that might aid her with CBD medicines. He has sent me seeds from the vault, on the understanding of what I was looking for, that isnt something available for sale, for FREE mind you!!! Mate, no matter what, I think that the world needs more people to show the altruism that Shanti shows time over and time again!

A BIG thanks you once again!

Smoke report, photos by new year on these.

Bringing in 2015 with new perspectives will be fun!

Peace

thanks for the reply herbsman,
i'd love to walk thru a mother/father room of shanti's and just take it all in for a few minutes, all the different smells and views would be amazing to experience. [hey shanti: maybe a DVD of this could be produced?? i can only dream...]

so these are high CBD as well?? cR

First down were C and E at 9.5 weeks i think. These were nicknamed Cherry (C) and Ribena (E) both for the smells and the flavours they emanated. Both were dense and had calyxs that looked pregnant with seed. They required very minimal trim as buds swelled to baseball size. Not so sticky, but tight and hard. The smoke was knockout. I mean the only thing to relax the muscles, and ease the mind.

A and F were next down at 10.5 weeks. A lighter looking bud was A, sour smelling fruit, and a dangerous smoke again. Packs a punch, ney a kick, like a mule which is why A has been my favourite so far, and i call the White Donkey.
F is fruitier and darker again with the berry smells and flavours too. Shanti whatever these genetics are they have been a delight to grow. Thank you.

Peace

So Ive come to the end of this leg of the journey, having germinated 10 f21 x m2 seeds, and flowering out plants labelled A, B (which hid from my sight until week 12) C, E and F.

Sorry for repetition, but I must finalise this report, and I will document all I can to ensure that the next run is a more comprehensive grow log. This one wasnt the best tbh, but it was a pheno hunt. And I did the best I could right now with other commitments.

Im hoping that Shanti can chime in here and give us some insight into the parent plants, and what the genetics were. I have my assumptions, and have based these solely on the observable characteristics displayed throughout the cycle.

All plants had at least a 100% stretch when flowering was induced. The internodes were never staggered with this breed, instead all inter nodes were parallel, like a seedling or vegetative plant. Bud structure was IDENTICAL, throughout, big round furry golf balls! Some had a bit of a tighter structure, and some were just FLUFFY. I had difficulty in deciding the ripeness of the plants, as some were faster to finish than others, 8 - 12 weeks. Leads me to think that perhaps I may have had a timer issue. I did notice that one plant next to the zip of the tent (which was slightly open for an extra passive intake directly to tops ) did ripen a little faster and am thinking additional airflow to top colas may help this one finish faster. VERY HIGH Calyx-to-Leaf ratio, which required nearly no trimming other than fans. There was practically no sugar trim, coz the buds swelled over and encompassed them. I could only manicure these when breaking down the large buds to smaller ones. Looks wise - 2 distinct phenos, a light lime green indica dominant bud that was tight and light. Very light in colour, and the other a darker version but almost identical in look.

Smells: Mango and banana at harvest when plants still alive. Also the other very distinct smell was a blackberry/ribena/cherry/berries type smell. Like a fresh fruit juice, on both sides, mango and cherry. Or better still a cordial, one that had been diluted if you catch my drift.

Taste: I wish some of the smells came through more in the taste. Unfortunately this wasnt the case with every plant. The cherry and ribena flavours were fantastic, but hints and overtones, not starburst/chewit in your mouth. The mango flavours do definitely come through, and strongly. This is what has led me to believe that these genetics fall somewhere between Mango Widow and White Rhino - SHANTI MAN UR KILLIN ME WITH THE MYSTERY. The taste is heavy also, full toke, back of the throat and feel the inhale. The exhale leaves a desire to re-inhale....You dont wanna let it go.

Buzz: Narcotic, one of the only ones to truly relax the body. Left me sedentary.

I have truly enjoyed these beans, from the start to the finish and I WILL DEFINITELY be haveing another crack at these soon. I have 15 odd beans left, and know what to look for.

Hope you all enjoyed the short sharp journey through F21 land.

Peace:
