don't fear Acetone extraction

When you say one grade below are you referring to the screen size?

The screen size can vary giving a similar quality depending on the cultivar. 'Semi' is usually referred to a quality grade that is just below the 'dry' grade which from my understanding resembles near full melt. Best drysift will be juicy and you can see the mostly intact resin glands while good semi, still insane quality, has a more homogenuous texture and is not the same purity and the resin glands are often not so much intact. Above both thrones the static which resembles high quality dry that has been cleaned from even tiniest bits of non resin plant matter in an additional step using static electricity.
I have witnessed different mesh sizes referred to, and resembling drysift, quality wise.
semi usually has no reference to mesh size either.
Have also witnessed semi thaz was still a very high quality but probably different mesh sizes mixed in 1 batch.

I like the golden stuff a few hours produces. I don't even bother with squeezing the chlorophyl out of the scraps.
I saved this post when this was the last post, 3 days ago going through the saved pages I re read it, and gave it a try.

5 grams of herb in a borosilicate glass with 250 ml of acetone for 2.5 hours gave as a result this:a02.jpga01.jpg

After I strained all the herb, without squeezing, I have put the herb again in the borosilicate glass with another 250ml of acetone, I forgot about it, so it soaked all night :D .
This has been the result:

What herb I used you ask? Guayusa of course :p .

edit: Any suggestions on how to scrape and what tool(s) to use?

I ended up leaving mine on a glass dish and scraping off as I needed.
It’s super sticky when it gets body touch warm.
I did use a sharp knife with a curved edge to scrape it off and back on the dish.
A single edge razor blade but you may need one to scrape it off the other blade.

I have heated the 3D printer headbed and placed the pan over it at 60 degrees Celsius, much easier to collect when it is warm.

I was thinking about using baking paper shaped in order to collect the acetone and let it dry that way so that the resin collects on the paper.

If I manage to do it, I'll post some pic.

Regarding the heating plate temperature, I now set it to 100 degrees Celsius for heating the extraction, so that is easier to scrap it off and spread it where you will use it.

I tried to put the extraction in the freezer. After 12 hours it was easy to just scrap it off frozen over baking paper, it has been one hour and it did not revert back to a slimy state. Still sticky but it is more on the visual texture of hashish I'd say.

It is possible to roll the extraction above between the fingers and shape it in a cylinder.

In the filter I used to strain I collected some light brown powder too.

It is fun this extraction thingy. Lots of details to learn and discover, my nerd part appreciated it :D

If you thought about this, give it a try, really, shake the plant matter for 30 sec in a jar with acetone and filter it, place the filtered liquid it in a glass plate or bowl, the larger, the faster the evaporation. After the last acetone has evaporated completely, you need to wait another 24 hours before using the extraction, I wait that time also before freezing. Repeat at least twice.
