Copper Mesh Wire

Copper DOES work as a slug and snail barrier if the percentage of copper alloy is high enough and the width is in excess of 4 cms. Copper mesh hardware cloth also works. I don't think a skinny piece of copper wire from an old lamp is that effective. Copper pennies made after 1983 are made of zinc. I don't use it as I don't have a slug problem. The few I see each year I just use salt and watch them melt.

Copper works indeed for most until it oxidizes outdoor...
Several barriers did work for me in the past: Coffee grounds, crushed eggshells, beer trap, dolomite...
They dont like thyme and chive neither.

Best would be a family of hedgehogs! šŸ¦”
