2021 outdoor

Thanks for sharing, you've got plants all over! Best of luck with the rest of the season, I am following along.

Hey my friend, sweet plants again this year!
Bummer about the males. I pulled a crab trap the other day that had 0 males and 10 females in it (can’t keep the lady Dungeness), I rebaited it and threw it out somewhere else; next day, same trap, 9 females no males. Last pot I pulled that day had 5 big males (daily limit) no females. Shit is crazy.
I just moved across the Straits, 49th parallel, I can look across and see y’all. I’ll be shaking you down for some tips growing outdoors here.
“Where Does a 300lb Dutchman smoke weed?
Anywhere he wants. Lol
Cheers mate

welcome to the neighborhood s&g, crabbing here can be unreal if you get the right spot, i was down in sooke last month and only in 15' of water and 10 min soak time and we were pulling 20-30 crab lol, lots of undersize but still got 4 good males in two hours. there is a food truck in sooke with most likely the best burger on the island, white trailer on the left hand side over the bridge just before you hit sooke, truly a masterpiece of a burger.

as for growing here, you have a bit different climate i am 350km north of you, soil is the same, but you get to stay warmer longer, i get cold air from the chilcoltin plateau and my yard is a micro climate all in its own lol, once that heavy morning dew hits in end of august early september mold becomes a issue. with the autos of today i would recommend that route, but if you have strains that wont finish until october the morning dew is a non issue, but that strain better be able to with stand lots of rain and humid weather. timewarp was always a fast finish and is a staple among the genetics here. i got some seeds from a guy in town here who has been guerilla growing for 15-20 years with the same strains and just kept making f1 seeds of it, he just started a seed company this year rowdyroots.com.

and yes i have been very fortunate to be able to smoke pretty much anywhere in all my years i have never been bothered by a cop for smoking in public, the bc ferries however do not have the same regard for me lol, i really miss the days of sitting on the back of the boat ripping a fat one, concert days were epic lol, the whole boat was turned into a party boat lol. good times!

august 13 update. Good evening all, here a few shots of todays garden.

Buds!!
My Early Skunk is just now throwing a pistol here and there at internodes. Your plants are definitely gonna be done before mine. Fingers crossed this dry run lasts another month for you.
I wanna get that Alaskan ferry up the Inside Strait, smoking all the way there..
Take care good buddy

I think I read somewhere that if the temps are too low during sexing phase you end up with more males.
BTW this has got me wondering, if they can make fem seeds can they make male seeds too?
Good question. The chromosomes don’t change. Some plants are XX and others are XY. You can cause a XX plant to make pollen, and all seeds will be female.
I think if you have an XY plant and you reverse it you get female flowers with no pollen.

Absolutely beautiful country there. Ferry rides go better with mushrooms. After all, you are in that part of the country ;)

ya man the cruise to alaska would be pretty sweet, i have a few plants that will be harvested in two weeks, weather is looking good for the next two weeks, my 12' plants have yet to sex lol so not much hope there lol, i will post some pics next week after work, i have some plants that will be basically a 5' cola lol. As for shrooms on a ferry to alaska mu man i did some lsd after work then hit the skytrain in vancouver years ago lol man after the first hour i was sweating and looking to get off that train asap, although the ferry at least has a option of outdoor space which would help lol i dont think i would be very interested in conversing with other passengers, not to mention bc ferries are a bunch of assholes now, they have drug sniffing dogs on board, i had the dog follow me and sit behind me a few years back before i had my medical license and i saw the rcmp at the terminal waiting lol i threw my back pack off the boat lol. maybe a cruise ship is more liberal though. if you are on the island s&g look me up, i have some white banner going inside and some banner glue.

good evening everyone here are some photos of the past few days. things are coming along nicely.

and here are the last of the shots. hummingbirds have made a home in the forest this year lol, loads of lady bugs have appeared this past few weeks as well, minor aphid issues, my nasturtium plants are almost all dead. the ant control is working well though. the tallest plant is 128" and has finally showed sex... its a female lol. amazingly none of these really smell either. in the above post the stalk shot is of a cotton candy plant and i will be making a fish killing club out of it lol. the plant next to the hummingbird feeder is what i called b.c.r that will produce 5' colas this year lol, it reminds me of a strain i saw 20 plus years ago on the sunshine coast, this guy had a 7' cola lol. the b.c.r stands for big cola ruderalis lol. i cant wait for next summer its gonna be all mr nice seeds in the garden in 2022.
