Hi everyone.......I just thought I would put up some pic's for Shanti and Neville if he is looking on just to bring back some memories of a time from the past.
Uki, Burringbar, Main Arm, and Goonengary all surrounded a little town called Mullum and in those hills grew a plant that was famous......well here it is :D

nice pix from the OldMotherSat/MMadness Kangativa thanks for sharing ,

Photos seem old too! Are you still growing the line kangativa?

Lovely pictures, from what I understand Shanti worked with a group of individuals at one time who had a great deal to do with the MM. I believe he has mentioned Nevilles Haze as being a variety similar in nature to the legendary madness we've all heard so much about.

Thanks for sharing :)

Thanx guys.....Its a pleasure to be able to share these pics with you.
Yes the photo's are old (1984) and they are just in prints and because it took us a while to get the balls up to get them developed they went a bit purple.
Yes I still grow the line, but due to a event a few years back during crossing and breeding I lost a lot of my strains and am only now starting to sort what I had left out again.
I will post later in the outdoor section with some pics of this years grow when they have finished, but for now here is a couple with the girls in the 15ft range:D

Yes you have that right.......There were a few people in different areas working with this strain. I took it with me to a drier state for a couple of years and crossed some of the strain to a faster flowering indica, but still kept it true. I also had some seeds from a Hunter Valley strain that I got in the mid 70's. this was also very MM looking.
I also had some very good Thai and Sumatran stock which I picked up in my travels, so over the years along with some of Shanti and Nevilles C Cup winners when they were with Sensi and GH I have made some very nice crosses........but I will put all that up in the outdoor section:D

Hi Kangativa nice looking sativas i rember the first time i smoked the real MM think it was 85 it destroyed me and you being from were you are you would rember the quality of the home grown and the imported we were getting here in the late 70s erly to last part of the 80s were it just stopped it was very very good but the MM was special i put it up in the ranks of things like black African the old Maui sativas then sadly the hydro and skunk became popular and over time the good old sativa became less and less.

I had a friend i went to school with that moved up to MM in 78 79 and basically surfed and grew with a few others he was telling me about a line they also called MM that was being grown around a power station i believe trying to rember now as it was long time ago he told me the flowers were purple never made it to MM my self only ever been to byron last time i heard any one talking about a strain called MM was in 2000 or 2001 they told me how week it was and i told them that the real MM would of blown there mind like on the boards lots claim to have MM and many other old school lines but dont or any thing close to them take the panama red being one seen so many post saying they have it and yet it looked nothing like the ones i saw growing.

Nice post brang back some good memorys mate.

Yeah m8.....I was doing the same surfing and growing MM and wiping people out. It was a super strong strain, origins unknown as far as I know, but well established for that time.....as you would know now that the seasons have changed up here and now rain comes late most times
I think you would mean the little power station near the turn off to Huonbrook, which is at the back of Mullum......I never saw the purple strain, sounds interesting.
I have tried to keep the strain going through all these years to the best of my ability and that was never helped by the raids, but the quality is still there:).......here is a pic of what I have grown for this year :)

Hi all........Thought I would put up some more of the MM. You can see in some of these pics the ones I crossed with a early flowering Indica:)

hi mate cant get the pics to open to a larger one but they look amazing i love sativas i think for us older growers we really did have it good sure we did not have the mail order seeds back then or the internet and the wealth of info and connections they do today but we had i believe some of the very best genetics to grow and well i never in a million years would of thort back then or even in the 90s thort the old school sativas like thias south american african and so on would be replaced by things like skunk.

It is sad to see videos like on youtube of Rastafarian in Jamaica growing nl and sk yet you would be lucky to see a pure sativa growing like i rember seeing in a marley movie even in ow home land were we had sativas from all over the world growing in back yards state forests all over the place that were often called bush weed now seams to have also been replaced with dutch lines i never knew how bad it was untill i joined the on line canna community in 2002 were i thort i could simply just order Thia or even pan red or any of the old school sativas we once took for granted reality set in and i think what was worse was seeing some trying to pass off lines not even close to what they were once as the real deal in hybrids.

So many lines have vanished it seams only the older growers have held on to the old lines and most like me lost a lot of the old lines due to bad storage practise like seeds in bags in draws so on.

Kangativa sounds like that may be the power station my friend was telling me about told me back in the late 70s they were growing plants there and odly i have driven past that road that Leeds you into MM so many times and i always sed il pop in on my way south never did i believe MM has changed a lot now days i just hope like you many more up there are and in other places are still preserving and growing the old sats we all once took for granted mate miss a lot of the old lines.

Chapter 4 of the larger file has the info on the newy sativa mate happy reading.

Damn Hempy that was a long read ....lol
Very, very interesting.......Speaking of Nixons war on drugs, there is a tiny island in Micronesia near the Palua group and not far from Guam that has and still does grow and smoke Pot. It was actually raided by a strike force from Guam and told not to smoke or grow pot and they tried to destroy it.......lol fat chance of that the king told them to f off and mind thier own business and to this day never uses or imports any American products.

hey mate dont worry I was another offender of just putting seeds away and leaving them. I once grew a plant from some seed out of a thai stick, I got one female and coz it was during a Geraldton winter it didnt get very big, but I dried it and roled a skinny little joint to test it with 7 other guys and it dropped us all.....Damn I wish I had kept that it was like tripping !......it was only that I grew it whenever I could that helped me save a few older strains and as I got older I got wiser and kept them in a better inviroment.......Funny I should say about the Hunter valley strains coz I actully got the seeds out of some lbs sent to me in WA in the late 70's from Newcastle and now I understand why MM and that look similar.

This year during the raids in the Byron and Tweed Valley it was covered by Cannagraphic mag just to make sure all is done by the book.......Guess they have Cedar Valley to thank for that:(
