Hey Shanti what do you think?

Hi Shanti

I was curious what you thought about a couple of things. It seems you have to spend time posting and closing threads due to fussing and fighting. Maybe you can post some thing about the plant? :)

Did you mainly use test results in the selections for the cbd series? Did this make things easier and faster in the selection process? Did you find a thc:cbd ratio that YOU prefered?

How do you think tissue culture and seed embryo will affect the cannabis world in the future? Having a clone in seed form seems pretty nifty. Will there a be a time soon when we can buy elite selections for example like your 5HZ122 in seed form? Or tailor made seeds with an exact thc:cbd ratio for medical grows?

What can you tell us about your nevilles haze x mango haze? Was the male used a NH or MH? Did you use the 5HZ122 female or a MangoF2?

Thanks
-MJP

i would guess nhm is a male mango haze crossed to a female NH.
no 5hzC122 or mango f2, other than the 122 being a grandmother.
shanti would have to feild all the rest of the questions for you.

So you think a nev mum? What about mango widow? I'm guessing that's probably a mango female, since I've read the widow male is used in other crosses. Do you think the male HzAC used in the rocknrolla's is the same mango male? Isn't it the same pedigree?

-MJP

its kind of opposite pedigree,
mango is (NL5 X HazeC)#122 x (skunk x HazeA)
AC is (NL5 X HazeA) x (skunk x HazeC), maybe some IBL work but thats basically it.

Dear Shantibaba,
It is a fact that you contribute information about our passion, marijuana, in other forums and over at TY. Why not share some of that information over here at your own forum. I am not saying you have to address every question put to you, some questions obviously carry more weight than others. I do not believe it to be unreasonable for you to share some of the vast knowledge that you have accumulated since working with cannabis. Sure beats all the other drivel.
Thank you for hearing me out.-bk

Ah ok, same 4 plants recombined differently. Assuming the skunk used is the same in HzAC as it is MH/SSH.

Instead of MHxNH, I wonder why Shanti never bred his version of Nevil's Haze. 5HzC122 x HzC? The dreaded catpiss? Too long flowering?

-MJP

well, he explained that it took a long time to find the right partner to the 122. maybe he was looking for a male to compliment the charachter of the female, or let it shine through. im sure he tried the HzC122 x skunkC, but it must not have been as good as when crossed to the skunkA.

That makes sense, I sometimes think putting two proven plants together has to produce even greater plants. I guess it doesn't always work out that way in practice. I'd still like to smoke it:cool:

I'm probably wrong, but I think I read somewhere on here that the original mango haze test seeds were 5HzC122 x SkHzC. I wonder if the mango component in NMH is from that breeding. That would make sense considering this is in the strain description for NVM:
The genetics making up this complex hybrid combine the two Haze males utilized by MNS. This seed is basically comprised of 12.5% skunk, 25% NL5, and 12.5%Haze A male, 50% Haze C male.

Does this sound right Shanti?

MJP. It seems that every q have have answered you got another 50 q's to ask.

Have you tried PM-ing Shanti with all your q's mate?

I'd say this is a better way to go about it gm1. This a forum after all fella, where thoughts, ideas and questions may be aired. And another member may have already asked shanti these very same questions, hence by asking them in the open forum, it invites members to offer their input. Saves shanti answering a pm that he may of answered quite a few times in the past.

I've also always felt that answers usually lead to more questions lol. I'm sure MP agrees ;)

Peace

Inquiring minds want to know :_

I figured what better place to put my question than in The Talk to Shantibaba Forum. Shanti puts outs so many great strains, that I don't see why he wouldn't want to talk about what goes into his efforts. I don't think I'm asking anything that he has already answered, that I know of. Just try and PM me next time you have a question GM...

OK then TFT, imagine this.

You have a forum. Out of your forum several members each start of with one question. You answer these questions from these members (taking time).

Then all of the same several members have another 50 q's after you've answered their initial q, thinking it would be the end of the matter (nightmare begins).

On top of all this, you have your family demanding your attention, your job to do so that you can feed your family and all the other bits and bobs (and you need to sleep as well. Humans. Pfft).

Catch my drift? Just saying and thinking out loud in the short amount of time I have. No offence intended.

I must respectfully disagree with your idea here gm1.

IMO, Shanti put this site up so that people could commumicate amongst each other and as a way for folks to easily get ahold of him (if that is their desire).

Just because one person get tired of answering the same question over and over doesn't make it true for everybody. Shanti will respond where he feels he needs/wants to and with all the rhetoric flowing through the place I'm quite positive he limits himself to the ?s he does answer.

MJP, haha (same as me),
I'm pretty sure Shanti (insert breeder name) won't go into extreme detail about his breeding schemes until he finds a suitable replacement for himself and then he'll share the intimate details ONLY with that person... IF, anybody is deserved of that privelege. (strictly my opinion)

Many of those intimate details are like a resturants "secret recipeis", IMO. ;)

Good point MJP;), the breeding question could definitely be seen as a trade secret. Hell, if Dj short won't tell what his lighting schedule is, it makes sense that Shanti wouldn't want to divulge what momma and poppa he is using. Maybe he can still openly discuss the other topics...
Either way, my NVM went into the ground today and she's a beauty. Thanks Shanti!

Hell, if Dj short won't tell what his lighting schedule is, it makes sense that Shanti wouldn't want to divulge what momma and poppa he is using.

DJS is (crystal) clear about his philosophy on light schedules, and he has even gone so far as to give the light schedule he uses for his males. It's right here on this forum (and posted at his helpdesk at IC).

Hey Dawn, DJ was crystal clear in his book when he said it was a trade secret:

Specifically, I find the single most powerful influence to the Indica dominant phenotype is the traditional 18/6 veggie cycle and 12/12 flowering cycle. The 18/6 veggie and 12/12 flower cycle is an attempt, however poor, to mimic the Indica-producing photoperiod. It is my belief that this light cycle strongly influences for Indica phenotypic expression.

Sativa phenotype characteristics will manifest under a more equatorial photoperiod, closer to a 13/11 veggie cycle and an 11/13 flower cycle. This is the light timing range to use to elicit more Sativa dominant expression from your plants.

As for the exact photoperiod formula that I incorporate into my growing/breeding regime, this will presently remain a trade secret. My advice is to experiment with different photoperiods, keep good notes and pay attention. Avoid the 18/6 and 12/12 photoperiods, while tweaking the times a bit differently with each breeding cycle until more desirable results in the finished product and their offspring are noted. Heres a hint: work in half-hour increments or a little less, and good luck! "

Apparently in one of his meet and greets he told his exact photoperiod, from jaybutta's notes I found these quotes:

+Note: Avoid the constant-on (24/7) light cycle, especially for breeding purposes
--Exceptions = auto-flowering plants, some re-green projects

11.5 on/12.5 off -->starting point for flowering photoperiods
(Note: I will never apply a 12/12 photoperiod to any of my plants ever again.
In his opinion, the standard 12/12 photoperiod provides a 'bland' finished product.)

24/0 Photoperiod
"I've seen this photoperiod wreak havoc on phenotypic expression."
This applies to clones too. All plants need rest. Keeping them under constant light is not natural or healthy for your plants.

...as far as photoperiod, he did not specify anything about his strains...he spoke in terms of individual phenotypes and tweaking to maximize the quality of the finished product...he's talking about coaxing sativa traits...hope this makes sense...let me know...jay

19.5 On, 4.5 Off-->His Male Light Regimen/Photoperiod (priceless info!)

You are more than welcome to post this to IC...I don't know if they'll let you, but you can try...he advises to play with flowering times, which is why you don't see a definite photoperiod in my notes...it's all different for different strains and set-ups, but in general never veg under 24/0 and never flower under 12/12...I have to work on the 9th, but I'll go on the 10th if nothing gets in butta's way...the first day is all syllabus anyway, so I'm not too worried about missing that day...jay

I only ever had two light regimes, 24 hour and 12. Never had problems.
N.

Clear enough?

Thanks EB! You are right on. Honestly I don't care too much what dj short does in the dark, my point was that if dj doesn't publish basic things like his photoperiod it makes sense why a top breeder like Shanti wouldn't want to share the ins and outs of his breeding tech either. I would love to hear him talk about it, but he did say something about CBD breeding the other day
Hi

When we are able to explain all we do publicly it will be clear.
