The Great Cheese Deception

I can verify that what British Hempire has posted is in fact a fake Cheese.

Below is the original Cheese.
20061123_143634_ch11.jpg

That's not the original photo mate. It's been cropped & the guy holding it has been removed :p

And yes, Cheese does have a corkscrew bud structure, that & it's a real low yielder, pretty lanky plant imo & very overated.

I can't be arsed to write long posts only to get shot down, so please excuse my brief posts instead.

Cheese is just a Skunk#1 with a recessive gene that makes it smell that way. The trait that causes it most likely comes from the Mexican cross in Skunk & it's that simple. Why is it these days that a strain can't be introduced without creating a myth around it to make it sound special, instead of letting the plants quality speak for itself?

This is the primest example of what a total lunatic Jesse is.

That picture was originally posted by the character known as cheesey/Quiejo/HotHouseFlowers and is not Cheese, it is 'Kachina' which is another well-known cutting in the UK that also goes by the name 'Eek-a-Mouse' and is a cross of Cheese to a Trainwreck male, done by cheesey/Quiejo/HotHouseFlowers. HHF has even appeared in this thread and posted that.

So here we have Jesse, a bloody Yank who has probably never been to the UK or met any of the UK folks who have handled and kept the Cheese for years, has probably never even smoked a Cheese bud let alone seen the cut growing or having grown it himself, and he's telling us one fucking picture proves us all wrong, what a fucking asshole...

Fact is, Cheese existed before Tim Berners-Lee even invented the fucking internet so for Jesse to assume that a picture that was posted online more than 15 years after the Cheese was first grown is the original and then dream up some total fiction about there having been some huge deception for years just shows what a contemptible asshole Jesse is.

What a character you are Jesse, on one side are all the UK growers who are intimately familiar with Cheese and have grown it and smoked it for many years, on the other side is just you on your own wearing your tinfoil hat and thinking that one picture of a different cutting is proof that your crazy theory is right and all the people who don't need to theorise because they were actually there, grew the plant and smoked the bud are wrong.

Jesse, you're utterly fucking crazy and every post you make just makes you seem more and more delusional, you need some serious psychiatric help...

This thread, and all of the others, start with the first post from the first page. The important part of this thread, which is demonstrating how many different versions of "Cheese" their is and the original picture of cheese first posted online so many years ago now is the true essence of this thread. If you're attempting to assertain anything from this thread, starting at the end is definitely the wrong direction to take. Try reading page one instead of the tail end of the thread marked by those attempting to ride the success of this thread and use it at their own devices.

In my opinion, a member whose account was registered in 2009, but is now just posting and in this particular thread, is a troll.

Care to share with us your real identity?

Honestly, what a select few of you have did to this website is unforgivable.

jesse, your opinions and views get you into a lot of arguments as they are usually misplaced and offensive, you also seem to believe there is only ever a single answer or explanation to anything and that's the word of jesse, this thread is a perfect example

the cheese may look different in other peoples grows as the environment is a major factor in how cannabis performs
if you had more experience growing cannabis plants rather than just writing about photos you've seen on the internet or getting into arguments with hundreds of random growers on the forums then this fact would be strikingly obviously to you

here's some basic explanations that will show a difference in the way a plant performs and how the end product looks

humidity plays a role, higher humidity can give denser, heavier buds usually with less crystal, dryer conditions will yield less with frostier flowers,

lower temps will slow growth and change colour of leaves and buds, higher temps will cause stretchier plants with wispier flowers, all will be different from perfect temps and would produce 3 different looking flowers

a plant that is over or under fed will perform differently

the amount of weeks a plant is given to mature will change the appearance of the buds
a 1000w light will produce different looking flowers than a 250/400w they wont be identical looking flowers that are just bigger or smaller

it's easy to continue but what i'm saying is pretty elementary and is basic knowledge, that you choose to ignore this and instead look for far fetched explanations would just be part of your individuality if you weren't so misplaced and offensive with it

i wouldn't share anybodies real identity with you, never mind my own, the very fact that you ask this question is worrying, you have a well documented history of trying to slander, expose and attack people at all costs, for my own safety i distance myself from you but before you try to suggest it, im not a player in the scene, i just love and grow this plant and i live in a country where growing and smoking cannabis is a criminal offense, i'm not fortunate enough to have medical marijuana laws protecting me

when you mention a select few ruining this site, i think you are subconsciously describing yourself and your group's actions.. but to seriously try and suggest that the hundreds of different people that you and your group have attacked and offended in your history on the forums are a select few is another of your misconceptions along with your suggestion that it is anyone but yourself and your group that is ruining this site :(

Well I won't shoot ya down mate because what you say is precisely correct.

As you are a longtime member at UK420 you will be familiar with the guy who actually posted that picture Jesse loves to use and will probably remember when he first posted it.

Sadly, because cheesey/Quiejo/HotHouseFlowers turned out to be a dodgy character Joolz, the owner of UK420 deleted all his posts because he felt they were all bullshit otherwise we could just go and quote the original post with the original uncropped picture where 'cheesey' as he was known at the time posted that picture of his Kachina.

You know, someone should get the Kachine and Cheese cuts and grow em side-by-side to finally prove Jesse wrong.

It won't shut the fucker up though, he'll just bullshit about something else...

"cheese" looks like sk1 to me, same foxtails etc.

that above pic i've seen all over the internet and can tell you that aint no sk#1.

I will also say it seems to be a killer, will try to out stretch and dominate any nearby plants.

Interesting, perhaps you would like to tell me about my child hood next? lol.

What's the link for ?

I was talking about knowing the original photograph mate & the fact it's not cheese, but maybe my English sarcastic humour went over your head. Now, I'm not here to argue, but it seems to me that your always angry & have something negative to say about everything everyone posts, at least everything that UK growers post !!! . Kinda obvious that you've got it in for UK growers, I can't say why but that's just what it looks like from where i'm sitting.

Your confusing me for someone that doesn't know shit about Hash/Weed my friend. Don't think I won't bite back because I will, I don't give a shit how many posts you have, so lets get that straight right now.

As for your Childhood, I'll let you tell your Psychiatrist about that, because you my friend have repressed anger over something.

Ha :p

Aye, I'm a member of UK420 both as Bubbla & Bubbla ®. Funnily enough I've never bothered posting though, but a fair few folk know me & that my knowledge is sound especially when it comes to Hash & making Hash, and is from hands on experience over many years. I'm just me, no bloated egos here, just plain old Bubbla :)

Bubbla,
All I did was post a link to information you have swiped from me and attempted to provide to me as your own.

You say you wont bite back, but I have not bitten you.

So now that you've stolen my own thoughts, and attempted to present them as your own and you've threatened me with some psycho babble now I do not know my cannabis?

lol

Hi JessE,
I've never had any contact with you and have no axe to grind with anyone. I just think its important that you understand how many UK growers have an intimate knowledge of Cheese and therefore can spot a true cheese and a fake very quickly. I have been wined and dined on the real cheese for the past 8+years (unfortunately!) and know the difference between genuine and fake. In fact I've had cheese that many times that I now avoid it wherever possible as I'm utterly bored by it. That sentiment applies to a lot of others in the UK who are literally cheesed out.
This is a great thread discussing an important topic. However I think a distinction needs to be made between Cheese the plant and Cheese the phenomonen, where one is a much loved variety for some and the other is an opportunity to hype a different strain to make money based on a name.
Keep it green,

Nice post Green,
When I look around this board right now, about 95% of the members here were not around when the Original Cheese picture I posted early first initially showed up online. That includes nearly all of you participating in this thread recently in fact.

Some of you seem to want to paint a picture that I am against the UK because I post the truth about the UK Cheese. For starters, that doesnt even make any sense. And second, my only goal (which has been accomplished) is let the newer members know the true history of the Cheese online. What any of you choose to do with this information is your own decision.

I am not the only one who will tell you that is the Original Cheese, as there were many thousands of people present when it initially showed up. The plant was never anything big phenomena wise, but rather an out of the ordinary looking plant. That is until the elite cutting hype started, then Cheese made a come back. But in a new form, different from the original.

I got so caught up seeing other people arguing, that i thought you were having a dig at me. I've not seen the post you put a link to, mainly because I'm too impatient to read the whole thread ha ha :D

Am i right in thinking that you don't like the English, or am I just projecting my thoughts onto you :p

You can put me in your 5% then mate because I was very much around & in the thick of it back in the late eighties.

Precisely and let me give you some clear examples of this:

Exhibit A: this is the Brightside/Exodus Cheese cutting grown by Englishrick in NFT using Canna Aqua Flores nutrients with Canna Boost, Canna PK13-14, Canna Rhizotonic and Budlink Silica. I know Englishrick, he described in detail how he grew this Cheese, well, he didn't grow it, one of his friends grew it with rick's help, rick snapped the pic.

14413DSC00092.jpg

Exhibit B: The same Brightside/Exodus Cheese cutting grown by me in a 2 litre pot of coco handwatered with AN Monkey Juice, Maxicrop Seaweed, AN Hammerhead and Hydrogarden Liquid Silica. This was a summer crop so temps were around 19C lights out, 24C lights on, this means the buds are less foxtailed than in rick's pic because rick's grow had both higher temps and higher humidity, rh of my grow was never above 40%.

23239d1302317584-great-cheese-deception-dscf0061.jpg

However, after trimming my plant, the same underlying 'corkscrew' structure some people call 'fat foxtails' is clear:

23225d1302300413-great-cheese-deception-dscf0093.jpg

One trait that makes the real Cheese fairly easy to spot in pics is the fact it is an absolute phosphorous hog, the bitch will cry out for phosphorous from mid-flower on so beasting her with the PK13-14 is a good idea, the phos def shows up as purple stems and petioles in veg, most people think Cheese has purple stems naturally, it doesn't that just her showing how much she craves phosphorous. In flower, you will see many pictures of Cheese plants with brown, crispy leaf margins, this is advanced phosphorous deficiency and many people's Cheeses exhibit it to some degree, here is a good example:

If Jesse wasn't such a delusional narcissistic lunatic then he'd actually pay attention to all the people telling him the actual facts...

But no, because he's a childish crazy fool he will stick to his own crazy theory regardless and instead of defending his point of view will attack people with childish accusations.

We should be talking about Cheese and not getting distracted by Jesse into stupid accusations, he's only making them because he hates me, I'm just sorry that his hatred of me keeps derailing the discussion from the actual plant. He will say I'm trying to hide something but all the UK folks know that's ludicrous, all the Dutch folks know that ludicrous and a lot of the US folks know that's ludicrous because they will have met one or both of us in Amsterdam, Buddha and I are hardly unknown faces at the twice-annual cup gatherings...

Here are some questions for Jesse, if the answer to any of them is 'no' then STFU:

Have you ever been to a rave organised by the Exodus Collective and smoked Exodus-grown Cheese there?

Have you ever met Glen Jenkins, the founder of Exodus?

Have you ever seen an actual Exodus Cheese plant in the flesh?

Have you ever smoked actual Exodus Cheese buds?

Have you ever met Brightside?

Have you ever been to the UK?

I agree wholeheartedly JessE.
We had been growing Cheese in my neck of the woods for a few years and the clone had been passed around to almost anyone who wanted it. In those days nobody charged for a Cheese cutting, knowing they would most likely be gifted a bit back as payment in a few months time. In fact nobody really thought of the Cheese as being that special. It wasn't a great yielder, took up room as its branches sagged under the weight of its buds and it would stink out the entire neighbourhood when cropped. Indeed at the time everyone was chasing a lovely Blueberry clone and a strange variety that was nicknamed 'Chinese' or 'Chinese Pink' that was doing the rounds. Then bang, the world went Cheese crazy and suddenly everyone wanted Cheese, Cheese, Cheese. For me, that is when the fakes arrived and as there wasn't enough of the genuine article to go around in such a short time some clever capitalists decided to re-name similar varieties as Cheese and cashed in. Then the hype picked up, Big Buddha appeared and weird clones that were obviously not cheese were passed around. I was offered some clones of 'cheese' which lacked the double leaf serrations and were subsequently knocked back, a friend took them and was sorely disappointed by the final product.
Then Cheese was all over Dam and the rest is history.
I honestly think that a big part of the Cheese hype is that it came from the UK underground and showed people in the UK and abroad that even the British could produce decent weed as at the time we were firmly in the shadow of the Netherlands. People jumped on it and it snowballed.
Keep it green,

Green,
It is like a Twilight Zone episode to have a thread occupied by those with everything to hide, but to see your post as a glimpse of supreme normality.

Nice post once again, and from my stand point your story above fits in nicely with how I remember things going on. I would disagree with a point or two, but overall nice work. :)

Yeah, I know a few people who have literally paid all the bills and made a living out of Cheese for a decade, before that picture Jesse loves to use as 'evidence' was ever posted.

Let's get the timeline right here, when exactly did 'cheesey' post that Kachina pic? 2002 I think.

Let me see, when was the first time I smoked Cheese... I'm a northerner and Cheese was a southerner thing, but it was before I first signed up to a grow forum in 2004.

hazyfontazy had the cheese cut before me and grew little else for many years, I first got it in 2004 so hazy had it before that, I reckon hazy must have had it before 'cheesey' ever shot that pic.

Brightside had the Cheese cut in the late 90s, I know other people who managed to squeeze one out of Exodus in the late 90s as well.

So, a rough timeline:

1988 - Cheese first grown from seed
1995 - Cheese passed to Exodus
2002 - 'cheesey' posts pic of Kachina online
2004 - Big Buddha gets hold of the Exodus Cheese cutting
2005 - Big Buddha releases Cheese seeds
2005 - onwards a ton of bullshit and myth about Cheese starts, before this there was none, just one cut that everyone wanted because it brought the top price on the market in bud form and a lot of people (including at least three people in this thread) made a good living off it.
2010 - some utter fuckwit called Jesse takes the fictions about Cheese to a whole new level and manages to piss off the entire UK grow community in the process.

There's a lot more names and facts and places and times I could mention but not in public, the UK grow community is fairly small and we all know each other pretty much, if we were all sat in a room somewhere private together we could, of course name names and times and places and really lock down with total certainty what happened but when we are online, in public with dangerous fuckwits like Jesse around we have to be more circumspect.

Where's Shanti, hazyfontazy gave him a fat Cheese bud at the Telford Expo in 2007, I was stood next to him when he handed it over, I'll never forget hazy waving his carrier bag under shanti's nose so the pungent cheese odour invaded his nostrils. Big Buddha was there that day, he had a stall at the Expo. I can't remember exactly but I think hazy gave Howard some Cheese that day too, I seem to recall us intercepting Howard as he crossed the hall and a choice Cheese bud being palmed. That part of the country is rife with Cheese, I know of at least 6 people who live within 20 miles of there who were growing Cheese at the time, I expect the pockets of Howard's jacket were full of cheesy buds by the end of that day. We even went outside with Shanti, Gerrit and a few others to smoke some Cheese while Howard was talking to the audience inside. In short, there are many people here who know the Cheese well...

Anyways, seems we're all on the same track with Cheese, that it's just a skunk #1 that had an unusual smell/taste profile and became associated with the Exodus Collective then was shared around by Brightside, shanti thought it was very similar to Garlic Bud, it's still very popular and very widely held but more and more the commercial bods aren't growing it because it takes longer, doesn't yield as much and is trickier to grow than the Blue Cheese that is all the rage now. Still wet barely smokeable 45 day 1.3g for 20 quid bags of Blue Cheese are sadly very common on the street in the UK and is what a lot of people are smoking these days if they don't have a connection to a smaller grower who cares about quality.

Yeah, I remember that Blueberry, never managed to get hold of it personally but bought bags of it whenever it was available.

When I eventually got the DJ Short Blueberry they were't the same so I'd love to know what that english Blueberry was. Did you ever manage to get hold of it?

The Cheese was first taken to the Dam in 2004 I believe, some guys gave it to the Homegrown Fantaseeds Shop. 2004 and 2005 NYCD was all the rage in the Dam and Cheese at HGF went unnoticed, HGF was a place that a lot of Brits hung out so they sold a steady amount of Cheese to them.

The Cheese hype started to get going properly when Big Buddha won a cup with some, he entered buds grown from the Exodus cutting and took the cup without mentioning that, so people falsely thought his seed version was cup-winning.

Straight after that cup the word Cheese was always on the lips of guys like Arjan and Franco and it became all the rage in Holland, Buddha signed a deal with GHS and the rest is history.

These are all the words of an innocent man people, with nothing to hide at all.

You've convinced me British Hempire, really...

lmao

You see, Jesse is doing precisely what I told you he would...

Instead of defending his indefensible Cheese theory he has switched to phase 2:

attacking anyone who disagrees with him

As I pointed out a few pages back, this is how a child's brain works - it forms an idea then when anyone comes along with information to disprove that idea it responds with name calling and insults. Eventually the child brain matures into an adult brain and learns through experience that ideas are made to be challenged and one should always remain open to new information, regardless of whether it supports of refutes one's pre-existing ideas.

Clearly Jesse is still at the child brain stage, I can only hope that one day he matures into an adult brain, but as I suspect he's already a fully-grown man he's a hopeless case and will forever be an ignorant fuckwit with an offensive manner...

Anyways, I should be ignoring him, we've exhausted the Cheese topic now and there's little more to be said about it, so this thread has run it's course and can only get deeper into arguments and name calling. Maybe that's what Jesse wants, certainly he seems to thrive on conflict.

That Blueberry TGM mentiooned interests me much more, maybe I should go start a Blueberry thread? No way of stopping Jesse shitting all over that as well though...
