Hey guys, I threw a couple of larger SSH in the other day, and I figgured I'd start a thread. I have been running the SSH for ~a year now, and it is my favorite herb. I generally grow in smaller containers with little veg time. Seems to be the best way for me to grow sativa dom hybrids under 400's in organic soil. I am getting a lil overgrown in veg (thank you metal halide!!), so I chopped up some 'bushes' and flipped em. Today is day 2.

This is my 'SSH #1'. She is a cut of the first ssh that I had to show sex. Haze leaning in both growth and smoke, but there is enough indica in there to notice. Will go ~12wks

These are SSH #4. I flowered the seedplant late summer, and I just pulled a lil bush of this cut. I'm still getting to know her, but looks to be more of a skunk leaner, should go ~10/11 wks.

This plant came out of 2l of soil and has ~5/6 growth shoots (rest shaved).

This one came out of a ~2l 'lazy hempy' (perlite/vermic/handfull of organic goodies), and was fed clone spray(kelp solution) for ~4 wks. She started to show some Ca def's last wk. I hit her with a kelp/castings/rare earth coffee, and the new growth (and previously un-affected old growth) looks good. 3 shewts.

They are all in organic soil. The plan is to topdress as I grow, and feed em castings/kelp/guano coffee. Flipped them out of need to clear space in veg, and to serve as 'fillers'. Figgured I could show 2 different pheno's here.

Hello barletta

You now the moves my man. When you say little veg time how many days do you mean?

Yo test :) I could have worded that a lil better... I usually grow in 3.4l pots-2gal bags. I usually re-pot and flip ~a wk after I see roots (or new growth). These plants were moms. The SSH1 was ~3months old, and the 4's were 6-8 wks. They all gave up clones, and were restricted throughout veg growth with small pots. The SSH1 will probably be my largest indoor plant to date, as it is a big plant going in; it's a big cut; and I never use 4gallons...

I'll put some shots of each of my ssh as lollipop clones (1, 4, 5, 6) when I flip em in a few wks. :D

Hey B!!!!!!!!!

More of out mutial fave plant going eh?

I see it looks like you supercropped SSH1, the left hand plant in the green pot.

How tall do yours get when flowered at that size?

I have to stop letting mine get so big. I'm not a yield freak, but I'd rather have shorter, easier to manage plants when I next do my SSH x SSH.

All mine are seed plants so I am going to do like L33t said and top them right after the 3rd true node. Then top again to end up with just eight flowering colas...And I'll "lollipop" those eight colas. That's assuming the individual plant phenos "cooperate".

Looking good for you, later!!

I haven't let a plant get over ~4' from the top of the dirt. I'll crop the hell out of them to keep em short. I left a lot of the growth on the SSH1 to 'eat' some of the stretch. If I cut a plant like that back - one with a gallon rootball - and left 2/3 tops, she'd end up 6'++. I'm trying to train her to run left-->right with a bunch of 'popsicles' growing off of the main. These were all moms, so they have been cropped/topped/trained multiple times.

Smoking my first sample of the #6 seedplant, and whhooo-boyyy... I just pulled 50 mature ssh6 x sshM2 to put in the f2 batch.:D

I slipped and the SSH #5 former mom ended up in 12/12 as of today. IME, #5 is FAST, light, and purple. She should look done by 7full wks, and I'll taker her 8+. The popsicles were extremely fast and light, and the 1 clone bush that I ran prior was over cooked @9wks.

I'll be amazed if I'm not smoking on this plant before I chop the other 2 phenos.

You got a secretary yet to keep track of all the shit you got going?...including "MNS Shit".

Every time I turn around you have another bunch of plants and a new thread!! LOLOLOL!!:D

Looking good though. I really like the massive root system on those plants. Plants with roots like that are always goona help the plant withstand any sort of problem that might come along....as well as produce much better bud.

Not only the roots, the stem on that shorty is as thick as one of my finished plants. I'm hanging around to watch this.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. :)

SF - IMHO the roots 'stretch' along with the plant, just a few days before. One of the ways that I fukk up plants (lose yield/set myself up for issues down the line)too often is to have the soil too moist for the 'root-stretch'. This prevents the roots from really stretching out the way they want to. Plants that have a large rootmass realative to the pot they are coming out of don't suffer this, because the 'old' soil has so many roots it will dry quickly, and wick moisture out of the rest of the pot.

That plant was in a 2l for ~6wks +/- and in that gallon for ~ a month.

luvto - She was a momma, so each time I cut her back, the stems down low thickened a good bit. All of these plants were given additional rare earth silicon on the prior re-pot. That stuff really does build some fatty stems.

Kelp, castings, mykes, happy/airy/reused medium = happy roots
Crab, poops, Rare earth, kelp, lime = fatty stems

They went into a mix with additional Pguano, AllPurpose organic fert (4-3-3 w/1% mag and 4%cal; 1% soluble N), and rock phosphate in addition to the goodies listed above. I'll be feeding through topdresses and I make 'coffee' with castings, maxicrop, rare earth and guano. I mix the ingredients and dilution rate of the coffee depending on the growth stage, and I'll add Liquid Karma and Molasses to each water in light amounts. I like to supplement with PBPsoil (1.5-4-5) during the 3rd to the 6th wk 1 time weekly. I have found that if I don't, the hungrier plants will make themselves known. I can run #1 and most of my other plants w/o the PBP, as they are light feeders, but why fukk around... I may only feed these plants the pbp 2 or 3 times, as they are in big pots. :)

EDIT - I'm smokin some SSH 5 that went into the jar a few days ago, and while it needs a cure to taste decent (barletta is SPOILED) it is some eyeball crunching bud.

HI barletta,

Healthy SSHazes you have in there, and a very well developed rootmass. It seams you have them tuned to yeld well.

I’m pulling a chair to watch this grow… :D

What's up Buddha d! LOL, I don't do nothin. How great of a grower am I? The plants that I ignore/leave alone pretty consistently outperform the ones I tweak/improve... ;) LOL, I've been messing with these, but not the soil. I been on a foliar kick. Prolly 1x/wk with LK, and 1x/wk with LK + 1/2 strength nute bucket. Nute bucket is: castings/kelp/guano coffee, splash of EJ, lil maxicrop, lil LK, molasses, and every time I work the soil buckets, I wash my hands off in it - rinsing some soil goodies in.

Here's a group shot. L2R: SSH1 (2wks); SSH4,SSH4 (2wks); SSH5 (1wk) FWIW, the ssh4 in the round pot has been hogging a CMH, and the one in the square pot has been hogging a HPS.

SSH #4 2wks, still getting to know her, but not much stretch at all so far.

SSH #5 1wk. Setting up nicely, but I'm still getting to know this cut too. Previous plants have been light and frosty (see down below ~p. 68ish with the dry shots)

Here is a SSH 1 @ ~75 days. First chopped plant of 2009. :)

She is a real beauty Barletta!

Great job man +++

Wish I was there to sample some with ya , play some pool and then and have a nice walk in the woods

keep it up and thanks for the eye candy

Thanks, L. LOL, you can walk in the woods your DAMN self today :) Been under 10deg F for ~2 days now. the wind finally died down... Fukkin east coast weather. I have 10" of snow on the ground, and I'm looking at ~2" of rain coming to flood my basement. Stay tuned here every Monday for updates!

LOL B

funnily the temps here last week have been almost the same ;) Bit of snow here too and its gonna go down to 0 degrees F the next few days.. I need to move closer to the tropics man..

Grabbing a chair for the rest of the show

lokkin good in there barletta and there are some mean looking roots!! will be watching closely to compare my 3 ssh almost in time with yours. btw noticed your mutt had a munch lol

nice monster B i noticed the leaves are a bronzy colour is it cold down below

i hope you got away with the flooding

Hey y'all :)

L - Tropics moved here. ~55 deg today...
sho - Thanks fer the love!
MrMr - Yeah, prolly down to the low 50's just before lights on. Low 50's-low 70's during the winter, mid 60's to low 80's last summer. No AC/heat, just pulls from the rest of the house. Most of the SSH turn colors, IME. I don't expect #4 to turn, as non of the cuts have so far. I expect #5 to be STRAIGHT purple when she is done.
BDritty - Nobody came down yet - the plant in the bag is the same cut as the one in the big green pot (ssh1, aka 'Iffy'). I'm counting the days to the morning of Jan1 like a kid counting to Dec25. Strictly head smoke.
